6)Airplane Splint

• Static orthosis that holds the arm in abduction at the level of the shoulder.
• Used following burns in the auxillary region and for short periods following surgery to the shoulder or brachial plexus.
• Especially effective following rotator cuff repairs, involved humeral fractures, and post-op shoulder/arm surgery where control of shoulder position and elbow flexion is desired.
